Verizon renews patent deal with Rovi

Verizon Communications has signed a multi-year patent licence renewal with Rovi that runs into the next decade.

verizon fios“Our patent licence renewal with Verizon further confirms the significant value of Rovi’s intellectual property portfolio, particularly in the US pay-TV market,” said Samir Armaly, EVP, intellectual property and licensing, Rovi.

With this agreement, Rovi now has eight of the top ten US pay-TV providers under licence, with six of those having entered into new or renewal agreements in just the last six quarters.

Rovi has more than 5,000 active patents and pending applications.
